What People Ask

The questions, comparisons and related searches people type around a topic, including Google's live People Also Ask box.

What it shows

What People Ask collects the questions and phrases people search around a topic:

  • Questions, grouped by question word: how, what, why, which, can, is and so on.
  • Prepositions, such as "for" and "without": "grinder for espresso", "cold brew without a filter".
  • Comparisons, such as "vs" and "or": "french press vs pour over".
  • People Also Ask: the questions Google shows right now in its results page for your seed, straight from the results.
  • Related searches: the searches Google lists at the bottom of the results page.

Each keyword comes with its search volume and difficulty, and your current position when you rank for it.

Why questions are gold

Questions tell you exactly what people want to know, in their own words. They are perfect for:

  • FAQ sections on product and service pages.
  • Article outlines: each important question becomes a heading.
  • AI answers: answer engines are asked questions all day. A page that answers a question directly, in its first sentence, is easy to quote.
  • Featured snippets and People Also Ask: Google fills these boxes with short, direct answers.

How to use it

  1. Type a topic, such as "cold brew".
  2. Choose the country.
  3. Leave People Also Ask on to see Google's live questions, or turn it off to save credits when you only need the keyword data.
  4. Switch between display modes to scan by question word or as one list.

Turning questions into content

  1. Pick one core question as the page's main topic. That becomes the title and H1.
  2. Take the five to ten most searched related questions as H2 headings.
  3. Under each heading, answer the question directly in the first one or two sentences, then add detail, steps or examples.
  4. Put the shortest, most factual answers in a FAQ section at the end, and mark it up with FAQ schema if it is a genuine FAQ.
