Use IMVASA in AI assistants
Run every IMVASA tool from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or your own agent by asking in plain English. What MCP is, what you can do, and how access and credits work.
What MCP is, in plain words
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is a standard way for AI assistants to use outside tools. Think of it as a universal plug. Once IMVASA is plugged into your assistant, you can ask things like "which keywords is my site close to ranking for?" and the assistant calls the right IMVASA tools, reads the results and answers you, with real data instead of guesses.
Assistants that support MCP include Claude (Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and Zed, and you can connect your own scripts too.
What you can do
- "Audit brewlab.coffee and give me the exact code to fix the top five issues."
- "Find keyword ideas for cold brew, keep the ones under difficulty 30, and outline a guide that targets them."
- "Compare my AI share of voice with my three biggest competitors."
- "Which sites link to my competitors but not to me? Draft outreach emails for the best five."
- "Check my tracked keywords and summarise what changed this week."
In coding assistants such as Claude Code and Cursor, the assistant can go further: audit a page, then open your code and fix the issues it found, then audit again to confirm.
Two levels of access
| Access | What you get | How to connect |
|---|---|---|
| Free, no account | run_audit, find_issues, get_audit and list_locations | Point your assistant at https://seoaudit.imvasa.dev/mcp |
| With your account | All 34 tools: research, backlinks, AI visibility, local, Lighthouse, rank tracking | Sign in, or add an API key |
With your account, the assistant uses your credit balance, and audits it runs are saved to your account. Each tool's description tells the assistant its cost, and good assistants mention it before running expensive lookups.
Signing in or using an API key
There are two ways to connect your account:
- Sign in (OAuth). Used by Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and ChatGPT. You add
https://seoaudit.imvasa.dev/mcp/accountas a connector, then sign in to IMVASA and click Allow. No key to copy. - API key. Used by Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Zed and your own scripts. You create a key in Dashboard, API Access and paste it into your assistant's settings as
Authorization: Bearer imv_your_api_key.
About API keys:
- Keys start with
imv_. Name each key after where you use it, such as "Cursor on my laptop". - A key is shown once when you create it. Copy it straight into your assistant's settings.
- Treat it like a password: anyone with the key can spend your credits. Do not commit it to a public repository.
- Revoke a key in API Access at any time. You can also see and remove assistants you signed in to.
Setup steps for each assistant are in Connect your assistant.
Credits and saved results
Your assistant and your dashboard share one credit balance and one set of saved results. Anything loaded in the last 24 hours, from either side, is reused for free and marked cached: true for the assistant. Ask your assistant to call account_credits before a long task to see your balance and recent charges. See Credits and pricing.
