Free Schema Markup Validator

Test the structured data on a live page, or paste JSON-LD before you publish it. Every block is checked for JSON errors, a schema.org @context and the properties each type requires. Free, no account.

Enter a page. Every JSON-LD and microdata block in its HTML is validated.

No markup yet? Draft it from your page with the JSON-LD generator.

What the Schema Validator Checks

  • JSON syntax: a block that doesn't parse is ignored by every search engine.
  • A schema.org @context, without which the types mean nothing.
  • Required and recommended properties for 25 common types, such as Article, Product, Offer, LocalBusiness, FAQPage, Event and VideoObject.
  • @id references that point at an entity no block defines, which break the links between your Organization, WebSite and pages.
  • Microdata as well as JSON-LD.

It runs the same validation as the free SEO audit, so a page that passes here passes there.

Schema Validator vs Google's Rich Results Test

Google's Rich Results Test answers one question: does this page qualify for a Google rich result? It skips types Google doesn't show as rich results. This validator checks every block, which matters because AI answer engines read Organization, Person and WebSite markup that earns no rich result at all. Use this to fix errors, then the Rich Results Test to confirm eligibility.

How to Validate Schema Markup

  1. 1

Enter a URL or paste the code

Test a live page to see what Google will read, or paste JSON-LD to check it before it ships.

  2. 2

    Read the errors first

Errors are invalid JSON, a missing schema.org @context, or a required property that is absent. Each one is listed with its type, property path and line.

  3. 3

    Then the warnings

Warnings are recommended properties you left out. They don't break the markup, but Google uses them to decide which rich results a page earns.

  4. 4

    Fix and re-test

Fix the markup in your template or CMS, publish, and run the URL again until the errors are gone.

Validate schema across the whole page

The free audit runs this validation alongside titles, canonicals, links, Core Web Vitals and AI-search readiness.

Schema Validator FAQ

What does a schema validator check?

That every structured data block parses as JSON, declares the schema.org vocabulary, and carries the properties required for its type. It also lists recommended properties you left out and @id references that point at nothing.

Is this the same as Google's Rich Results Test?

No, and it's worth running both. The Rich Results Test only reports the types Google shows as rich results, and only whether a page qualifies. This validator checks every block on the page, including types Google ignores for rich results but AI answer engines still read.

Can I validate JSON-LD before publishing it?

Yes. Switch to Paste code and paste the JSON-LD on its own or with its script tag. Nothing is fetched or stored.

Why does my page show no structured data when I added it?

The validator reads the HTML your server sends, which is what Google sees first. If the JSON-LD is injected by JavaScript after the page loads, or by a tag manager, it won't be in that HTML. Render it on the server instead.

Does valid schema guarantee rich results?

No. Valid markup makes a page eligible. Google still decides whether to show a rich result, and it requires the markup to match what is visible on the page.

Is the schema validator free?

Yes. There is no signup, and pasted code is checked without being stored.
